A nice alternative to the most common club-ride destination of Nyack, NY. No antique shops. Instead Nanuet has a blue-collar, Americana type of charm to it. The route features nice reservoir/lakeside views to and from while riding freshly paved smooth roads. This route minimizes the number of turns as much as possible in order to make anticipating turns easier. It is a small trade-off of riding on (a few) heavier traffic stretches, i.e. avenues instead of streets. With this in mind, this route lends itself for faster club rides (A rides). There are no killer hills, other than a short and steep pitch on Townline Rd, but enough rollers to make for a challenging A or B ride. There’s a few delis/quick food stops on the way. The lunch stop indicated on the sheet is Nanuet Restaurant. Check out their thin crust pizza. Bank on 1 hour of time if you decide to stop there. Other lunch options: Subway sandwich shop on Middletown Rd and before approaching Nanuet Restaurant. In the immediate area of Nanuet Restaurant and on Middletown Rd are a few delis. Further up Middletown Rd, roughly a quarter to a half mile is a good diner (make 1st left after crossing Rte 59 and pedal through strip mall parking lot). Note: Look for more comments in the Word doc version of the ride cue sheet. 1000’ vertical gain to lunch, 920’ vertical gain back.
